Blackdown Charcoal is crafted in small batches using native West Country hardwoods sourced directly from local woodland management. By using an eco-friendly burn process, we produce a pure, feather-light, high-carbon lumpwood that contains zero binders or accelerants.  It lights almost instantly without chemical firelighters, reaches cooking temperature in minutes and burns cleanly.  Every bag is hand-packed to guarantee quality lumps.

Our story is rooted in the Blackdown Hills, an officially designated National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty / AONB) spanning the border of Devon and Somerset in South West England, recognized for its ancient hedgerows, traditional hazel/oak woodlands, and coppice management traditions.

We source and burn timber from our own woods, minimising transport emissions and supporting British woodlands.
